'Koslanda, I wish we hadnt just been stopping there a few hours, I wanted to stay longer once I was there.' JP - April 2014

An up market private retreat built in the heart of the hill country, surrounded by forest and waterfalls, this is an ideal spot for those seeking some peace and quiet or wishing to connect with nature.

The resort has four rooms, three large suites and a smaller double room, that can be rented individually or together. The suites are designed in a traditional Sri Lankan style with an en-suite, verandah, Jacuzzi, a private garden and offer magnificent views over the sacred 'God's Forest'. Meanwhile the double room is small but charming and built in a traditional style using mud and stone. It features a double bed, en-suite and open shower.

The spacious 80 acres of forest and tropical gardens is what makes this property special. The resort has three ambalamas (or pavilions) where you can read, write, snooze, meditate or participate in some yoga. It is never difficult to find a quiet place of your own in the forest where you can spot wild peacocks parading as well as monkeys and jungle squirrels. Guests can also take a look around the resort's plant nursery and participate in their extensive reforestation programme.

Traditional home cooked Sri Lankan cuisine is cooked at the resort using seasonal and local ingredients. There is an abundance of tropical fruits, exotic rice and curries available among other dishes. Guests can eat in the dining pavilion or in the lush landscaped tropical garden.

There is plenty to do at the resort as well as its surrounding area. Built on what is believed to be sacred ground, residents can join a daily ritual in worshipping the Goddess of the Forest at an ancient statue and shrine on the property. There is an infinity pool, traditional Auyervedic Massage, yoga which needs to be pre-booked, cookery classes, jungle trekking, bird watching or river and waterfall bathing. In the dry season you may even catch elephants roaming and drinking from the hotel's rivers.

The resort is located in the Eastern Hills of Sri Lanka just 5 hours from the capital Colombo, Koslanda is situated in the perfect position to explore the hill country and the east of Sri Lanka. Guests can visit the breathtaking waterfall of Diyaluma, which is the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka, visit the local tea estates or catch a train through the hill country, explore the ancient Dafter Jailani Sufi Shrine, take an elephant safari in Udawalawe National Park or visit Yala National Park.

Children aged six and above are welcome but there are a number of steeps drops which could be dangerous for very young children.
